This report touches on the events that took place during the GSD International Conference in 2023, as well as its impact on social and digital channels as the event was streamed. The report outlines the key themes that were addressed regarding the work GSD does as an organisation, and the problems that the organisation was aiming to solve both in Somalia and the diaspora. It highlights all the relevant keynote speakers, and sponsors, at the event, as well as the panel discussions which took place. Furthermore, it also showcases the PR and digital outreach of the conference and the audiences it reached. The issues discussed in the conference include:

• The contributions of the Somali diaspora to the United Kingdom and other parts of the world.

• The political engagement of the Somali diaspora in their host countries, and how they can leverage this for positives in the homeland.

• The ways in which the Somali government is working with the diaspora to make improvements to the country’s stability, economy, and peace.

• The importance of supporting young women and girls, both in the diaspora and Somalia, so that they may reach their potentials.

• Language and literacy among Somalis, particularly how the use of the Somali language is declining among diaspora youth.
